Aye, I was on a so-called “semi-hiatus” (to sort my life out), and thus only took a couple of simple shots. Anyway, this shoot started out as a rather casual walk-and-shoot at the National Gallery Singapore. Nice location, but “heavily guarded” with security petrol.

Since deploying our full gear will most likely “attract” the security guards (just as flies are attracted to poop), we just went with our “basic gear” of 2 off-camera (bare) flashes and a reflector.

Good thing luck was on our side, we had an overcast sky and very diffused sunlight. We only had to fill in using our most traditional “innovative” method… bouncing a flash off the reflector as a main light.

The reflector did not produce the most flattering light, but at least it worked. We had a dozen of shots before security started eyeing us for “hogging” the place for too long. Very stereotypical of security guards, even though we were just taking photos.

Well, I did not want to have a direct confrontation with the security guard (knowing that reasoning with them is as good as talking to walls), so we packed and moved on.

City area Singapore has some interesting places for a shoot… but of all places, I have no idea why my good master JQ chooses a back alley.

What can we shoot here? Zootopia Ghoul? Psychopia? ZootoPass? An alternate Zootopia would be fun though, I figure. So I left that very important mission of an alternate Zootopia to the master. Stay tuned for his update.

Night falls and we finally decided to settle for part 2, night shoot at the Boat Quay area. Ha, no security guards at a public area. So I broke out my trusty Godox – soft box combo, and let the games begin. Which I actually did not take much as well  😐 Well, that actually about wraps the behind-the-scenes.

Before I end off, let me just bitch about how hard hair flips are. You need to catch the right flip at the right time, and that is not easy at all. Yep, for that one shot above, it took me 5 tries. If anyone has any tips on flipping hair, do comment below. I shall be eternally grateful.  😀
